The BizWorld Foundation – San Francisco, CA – www.bizworld.org
BizWorld’s mission is to challenge and engage children across the cultural and economic spectrum through experiential learning programs that teach the basics of business, entrepreneurship, and money management and promote teamwork and leadership in the classroom. Since 1997, BizWorld has reached over 200,000 students worldwide and is expanding internationally.

  • Ann Racek, MBA '09: Assessed the feasibility of global growth and the resources international expansion would require through examination of current and previous international partnerships, analyzation of oversea opportunities, and strategic global plan development.

Civic Consulting Alliance (CCA) - Chicago, IL - www.ccachicago.org
The Civic Consulting Alliance is a not-for-profit consulting firm working to improve government in the City of Chicago and the region. CCA provides general management consulting services (strategic planning, operational improvements, and organizational design) using a combination of CCA staff consultants, client employees, and consultants “on loan” from Chicago’s top private sector corporations and consulting firms.

  • Constance Kresge, MBA '10: Updated and refined a predictive model that determines future demand and expected supply of principals within the Chicago Public School (CPS) system.
  • Elizabeth Stamberger, MBA/MPP '11: Analyzed 1) Civic Consulting Alliance's model and communications and 2) how Chicago's public sector engages businesses to offer work-based learning experiences for Chicago youth.

Focus: HOPE - Detroit, MI - www.focushope.edu
Focus: HOPE is a nationally recognized civil and human rights organization in Detroit, with the mission of using intelligent and practical action to fight racism, poverty and injustice. Their programs include a food program for eligible mothers, children and senior citizens; education and training in information technology, manufacturing and engineering; community arts programs; community and economic development initiatives; a manufacturing operation; children's day care and education, conference facilities, and volunteer and outreach activities.

  • Catherine Anderson, MBA/MA '11 and Tyler Hauck, BBA '10: Determined the feasibility of partnerships with regional colleges and universities to deliver necessary services and engage in long-term research, program and community development.

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy - San Francisco, CA - www.parksconservancy.org
The Parks Conservancy is the nonprofit membership organization created to preserve the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the experiences of park visitors, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future.

  • Tina Tam, MBA/MS '11 and David Weinglass, MBA/MS '11: Developed an integrated marketing plan for the Institute at the Golden Gate, a program of the National Parks established in spring 2008. The Institute seeks to advance environmental preservation and global sustainability by facilitating cross-sector dialogue and collaboration, encouraging new partnerships, and promoting action.

Greyston Foundation - Yonkers, NY - www.greyston.org
Greyston Foundation is a $13 million integrated network of for-profit and not-for-profit entities, providing jobs, workforce development, low-income housing, supportive services, child care, after-school programs, comprehensive HIV healthcare, housing, community gardens and a gourmet bakery business.

  • Project: Rachel Lieberman, MBA '10: Created a marketing plan for the new gluten free product.

Henry Ford Learning Institute (HFLI) - Dearborn, MI and Chicago, IL - www.hfli.org
The Henry Ford Learning Institute’s mission is to create small schools and hands-on learning programs that leverage a wide range of local resources to create thriving communities where education is everyone’s responsibility.

  • Diana Economy, MBA '10: Developed HFLI's hiring, compensation and performance review policies and practices.
  • Gavin Kwong, MBA '10: Assisted with the HFLI's Chicago school that opened in 2008. The school moved to their permanent facility in August 2009. Projects included developing financial and accounting mechanisms and administrative policies and procedures necessary to support the school.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York - New York, NY - www.metrony.wish.org
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

  • Sarah Rahman, BBA '10: Developed a strategic plan for cultivating the next generation of donors, by conducting research on corporate donors, executives under 40, and new and emerging methods of giving.

Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) - Chicago, IL - www.nfte.com
NFTE provides entrepreneurship programs to young people from low-income communities to increase their economic productivity and enhance their academic and life skills.

  • Betsy Davis, MBA '10: Proposed a strategic plan that outlines next steps and goals and reasonable rate of growth for next 5 years, including recommendations for a sustainable funding base in Chicago. Also developed a deepened relationship with Chicago Public Schools(CPS).

Net Impact’s strategy is to leverage a global network, educate members on how to make a difference, and inspire ideas and action to change the world through business.

  • Teerna Choudhury, MBA '10: Established long-term goals for Net Impact Service Corps and Board Fellows programs and created recommendations to achieve these goals.
  • Robyn Katzman, MBA '10: Created a long-term strategy for curriculum change initiatives, developing a short and longer-term curriculum change strategy including financial scenarios and operational plans and corresponding marketing strategies.

Nonprofit Enterprise at Work (NEW) - Ann Arbor, MI - www.new.org
NEW seeks to help nonprofits succeed by strengthening nonprofit management and offering solutions to issues facing our nonprofit community.

  • Andrea Steves, MBA '09: Updated the 2008 strategic plan to capture NEW's current position, revenue projections and goals for FY 2009-10. Studied and supported expansion of service offerings into Windows thin client support. Helped draft npServ's social media expansion plan.

Nonprofit & Public Management Center (NPM) - Ann Arbor, MI - www.nonprofit.umich.edu
NPM is a collaboration between the Ross School of Business, Ford School of Public Policy, and School of Social Work. With the mission of equipping future leaders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors with interdisciplinary insight that can help them operate more effectively when working for or collaborating with nonprofit and public institutions, NPM’s programs include Domestic Corps and the Board Fellowship Program.

  • Elizabeth Kiefer, BBA '10: Developed a strategic plan for alumni engagement at NPM to further its mission of preparing future leaders with interdisciplinary insight in the nonprofit and public sectors.

Teach For America works with a great sense of urgency to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort.

  • Stockton Reece, MBA '10: Developed a marketing outreach plan of action after generating a SWOT analysis for TFA’s interactions with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and faith-based campuses and organizations.
  • Jeanah Hong, MBA '10: Conducted a detailed analysis of the 2009 College Grad & Professional (CGP) recruitment process, looking at various conversion rates and the demographics of different stages of the recruitment pipeline: registrants, applicants, accepts and confirms.

Women Employed is a leading national advocate for women's economic advancement. With a mission to improve the economic status of women and remove barriers to economic equity, Women Employed analyzes workplace issues, educates policy makers, and builds support to improve opportunities and incomes.

  • Elizabeth Talbert, MPP '10: Researched and made recommendations for how Women Employed may secure its “niche” in the Green Jobs movement, with identifying Women Employed best options for impact.
