2008 Domestic Corps Projects
The following is a list of current Domestic Corps projects. Please note that additional projects may be added through January.
Civic Consulting Alliance - Chicago, IL - www.ccachicago.org
The Civic Consulting Alliance (CCA) is a not-for-profit consulting firm working to improve government in the City of Chicago and the region. CCA provides general management consulting services (strategic planning, operational improvements, and organizational design) using a combination of CCA staff consultants, client employees, and consultants “on loan” from Chicago’s top private sector corporations and consulting firms.
Project: (positions filled)
- Two MBA interns will complete a high-impact projects for the City of Chicago, working side-by-side with CCA consultants and senior executives in Chicago government. Through this internship, the students will develop an understanding of key consulting skills, as well as public sector policies, operations and challenges.

The Campus Kitchens Project - Washington, D.C. - www.campuskitchens.org
The Campus Kitchens Project (CKP) was developed as a national outgrowth of DC Central Kitchen to empower thousands of students each year to recycle food from their campus cafeterias, turn these donations into nourishing meals, deliver those meals to those who need it most in communities across the country, and provide culinary skills to unemployed persons.

- Two interns will assist with the strategic planning, development and implementation of the CKP Alumni Network. The network will create a community for student volunteers and assist CKP with tracking outcomes.

EmcArts - New York, NY - www.EmcArts.org
EmcArts is a social enterprise whose primary mission is to strengthen the capacities and effectiveness of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Comprised of an ensemble of arts management consultants with a wealth of experience in the arts, culture, philanthropy and education, the EmcArts Team was formed as a response to the challenges and ever-changing demands of the arts and culture marketplace.

- A MBA intern will develop a marketing plan to increase the publicity and brand recognition for EmcArts.

Henry Ford Learning Institute (HFLI) - Dearborn, MI - www.hfli.org
The Henry Ford Learning Institute’s mission is to create small schools and hands-on learning programs that leverage a wide range of local resources to create thriving communities where education is everyone’s responsibility.

- A MBA will develop a detailed toolkit of documents necessary to launch a school, which will include procedures for marketing, student and teacher recruiting, financial budgeting, internal policy documentation, compliance, and procurement.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York- New York, NY - www.metrony.wish.org
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

- One MBA and one BBA will intern with Make-A-Wish of Metro New York. One intern will develop an outreach marketing plan to increase the awareness of their programs to the Harlem, New York community. One intern will develop a corporate volunteer strategy for local corporations to learn more about the organization and increase their involvement.

Net Impact - San Francisco, CA - www.netimpact.org
Net Impact’s strategy is to leverage a global network, educate members on how to make a difference, and inspire ideas and action to change the world through business.

A MBA intern will work closely with the Executive Director to develop Net Impact’s strategic plan, which may include interviews with key stakeholders, an analysis of the competitive/collaborative landscape, surveying members and other constituents, and a financial analysis of potential new or increased revenue streams.

A MBA intern will conduct a strategic evaluation of Net Impact’s current chapter system, with a particular focus on what Net Impact needs to do different for chapters outside of North America.

Nonprofit Enterprise at Work (NEW) - Ann Arbor, MI - www.new.org
NEW seeks to help nonprofits succeed by strengthening nonprofit management and offering solutions to issues facing our nonprofit community.

A MBA intern will assist NEW with the development of their newest program, npServ, which provides technology solutions and back office solutions to nonprofits. The project may include developing a marketing plan, internal process review, and prospect outreach.

National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) - Chicago, IL, New York, NY and San Francisco, CA - www.nfte.com
NFTE teaches entrepreneurship to young people from low-income communities to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic and life skills.

New Orleans Outreach (NOO) New Orleans, LA - www.nooutreach.org
New Orleans Outreach works to improve the quality of public education by linking volunteers and other community resources with staff and students through programs that respond to the particular needs of each school.

- A MBA intern will assist with program evaluation and strategic planning for NOO programs. The intern will analyze data and develop recommendations regarding the direction and nature of growth the organization should take through partnership development, relationship building with the private sector, and the organization’s brand development.

Urban Ecology Institute - Boston, MA - www.urbaneco.org
For nearly ten years, the Urban Ecology Institute and its community and educational partners have been improving the health of urban ecosystems through environmental education, action, and advocacy programs. UEI’s mission is to help urban communities build healthy, vibrant cities by educating residents about their environment, connecting them to each other, and engaging them in the transformation of their neighborhoods into places where people love to live. Co-sponsored by the Erb Institute.

A MBA intern will assist in developing Go Boston Greener, a collaborative campaign effort between public, private, and nonprofit entities (including the City of Boston). With the goal of planting 100,000 new trees in Boston by 2020, the intern will develop a marketing/publicity plan, as well as provide recommendations for structuring the coalition.
