Financial Assistance Programs

The Ross School's Loan Repayment Assistance Program seeks to attract a diverse group of highly qualified prospective students and to expand the career options of its graduates by actively encouraging them to help fill the need for skilled managers in nonprofit and public sector organizations. Based on a one-year income, students making less than $75,000 will qualify to have that year's full Ross loan obligation paid in full. Students making more than $75,000 must contribute 20% of their income over $75,000 to their loan payment. The balance of the payment will be made by the Ross School. All students must file the FAFSA while a Ross student and demonstrate need to qualify. Perkins, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized, and Alternative Loans are considered, and total payment is for the 10 consecutive years following graduation, up to $100,000 maximum in payments.

The Rackham Debt Management Program seeks to encourage Rackham doctoral students to pursue public interest careers upon completing their graduate degrees, and provides awards of up to $10,000 each to students enrolled in a full-time doctoral program in Social Work/Social Science, Public Policy, Public Health, or Nursing. To be eligible, students must have spent at least two years in community service prior to beginning graduate school, must intend to return to public service careers upon graduation, and will be carrying student-related debt accrued during the undergraduate and/or graduate years. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Rackham Office of Student Recruitment and Support at flwships@rackham.umich.edu.
